Ohio Tournament of Champions Information
Date: Saturday, April 13, 2019
Time: Registration: 9:00-9:30 a.m.
Rounds begin: 9:30 a.m.
Final rounds: 4:30 p.m.
Awards: 5:30 p.m.
Location: Gahanna-Lincoln HS, Columbus, OH
Eligibility: Any debater who has won 1st place in LD at an Ohio tournament
in the 2018-2019 season. Any team in which at least one member has won 1st place in PF at an Ohio tournament in the 2018-2019 season. When you apply, you must note which tournament(s) you have won. (All 2019 national qualifiers in LD and PF are eligible; novice and middle school tournament champions are not eligible.) LD/PF debaters who have NOT won 1st place at a tournament this season may petition for admission. Petitioners may be accepted into the OH TOC depending on their record of success and the number of competitors. NOTE: In PF, we will allow hybrid teams of students from two different schools competing together as one PF team. We are not allowing mavericks in PF.
Format: Round-Robin or Prelims & Break Rounds
(depending on the number of competitors)
Topics: LD: March-April NSDA Resolution (the states topic)
PF: April NSDA Resolution (prep for the UK TOC)
Judges: 1 qualified judge for 1-2 entries
2 qualified judges for 3-4 entries
Coach: Students must be accompanied by an adult coach
(or a parent acting as a coach)
Disclosure and Oral Critiques: Will be encouraged
Observers and Recording: Will be allowed
Fees: $15 per student (for lunch and facilities)
Deadline: Applications for the 2019 OH TOC are no longer being accepted.
Awards: 1st Place = $100 cash
2nd Place = $50 cash
