Kevin McDougal
Head Instructor - Extemporaneous Speaking and Congressional Debate

Kevin McDougal has coached extemporaneous speaking - both International and United States - for five years at Perry High School, where he also teaches history and government. Mr. McDougal's extempers won the Ohio state championship in IX in 2016 and 2018. At the 2019 state tournament, he coached both the IX champion and the USX champion (see picture below). Mr. McDougal has also coached four national qualifiers in the extemps, and his extemper won the NSDA Final Round President’s Bowl in 2017. Additionally, he has assisted coaching congressional debaters to break rounds at states since the beginning of his coaching career. Mr. McDougal has judged congress at the local, state, and national level (The GlenBrooks Tournament). Last summer, he became CDC’s first Coaching Fellow. He is very excited to help CDC expand its program and to teach extemp and congress to students from all over Ohio and beyond. Mr. McDougal believes Congessional Debate, USX, and IX develop students into independent and confident leaders who can take on important discussions of policy-making and international relations.

Kasey Pukys

Kasey Pukys competed in International Extemporaneous Speaking at Perry High School for three years and was a three-time state qualifier in IX. During her senior year, Kasey became Perry High School's first Speech and Debate President, won seven tournaments across the state, and became the Ohio State Champion in IX. Additionally, she qualified for the NSDA national tournament twice, once in World Schools Debate and once in Congressional Debate, where she finished in the semifinals her senior year. She is very excited to work with CDC extempers and congressional debaters this summer!
